Here is a message from Carole Briggs, Curator of the Jefferson County Historical Center.
It was fun to meet with all the Richardsville folks at the
Reunion. Here again is my thinking on the possible Richardsville Project:
1) Interested folks provide you with their names and contact information (Email./phone #/address)
2) The History Center organizes a meeting to look at Bill McCracken's diorama and plan an oral history project.
3) The History Center seeks funding to underwrite the project.
4) Richardsville folks carry it out.
5) End result - Who Knows!
Then let's pick a fall date for this get-together to plan the "Richardsville Project" ie what exactly do we want to do,
what will we end up with, how will we get there, how will we fund it, and other concerns that are raised?
Then how about you putting the project on your website and we will get it into our Jeffersonian issue for Oct/Nov/Dec and give it a bit of newspaper publicity. And then let's see how it develops How is that for a start?
My original thought was to examine a community's century of development,
identify cause/effect, then design graphic panel to accompany Bill's diorama, however, I know when folks
come together lots of new ideas emerge!

This may well be a "first time in history" opportunity for a small old village like Richardsville to be offered a chance to make history by simply sharing their greatest asset. Recollections, Stories, Memories, and Photos. Even given the opportunity to have input on what the outcome will be!
If we sit quietly waiting for others to start first, or do it for us, not even raising the hand to say "what can I do to help?" and miss this opportunity, shame on us!
That will be the legacy we leave our children
