Jan 3 1953 A regular meeting of the board was held, members present, Gilligan, Brownlee, McCracken Bartlett and Westerman The matter of the bus not on schedule in the evenings was discussed, and it was decided to find out more about it. Next it was decided to order more coal. paid bills Next it was decided to sell McCracken a black Board for $3.50 to be deducted from his bill. Feb 2 1953 A regular meeting of the board was held, members present, Gilligan, Brownlee, McCracken Bartlett and Westerman The bond for the new roof was read and approved. Next it was decided to contact Mrs. Rockey of Brookville Schools in regard to treatment of our pupils (Harry Mackey) paid bills, included was a bill to pay extra mileage to bus Co. Discussion of getting water connection put on furnace, also installation of fan to distribute heat to rooms, also new fuse box. Bill McCracken was present and made estimate of costs of job. Pearsall and Bartlett were appointed to contact other bidders. adjourned David T. Gayley Sect.
March (no date) 1953 A regular meeting of the board was held, members present, Brownlee, Pearsall, McCracken, Bartlett. Reading of the new tax laws by by Sect. motion to make out budget at next meeting. Followed by accepting the installation of fan on furnace (bill and details) presented by Bill McCracken, motion to pay this and all other bills. motion carried It was decided to get and install asbestos on furnace 2'x6' to be bought by Sect. adjourned David T. April 6 1953 A regular meeting of the board was held, members present, Westerman, Brownlee, Pearsall, McCracken, Bartlett. Reading and approval of budget for 1954-1954, also the levying of tax millage at 19 mills, and $5.00 per capita, $5.00 personal tax. motion accepted Next Mr. Gayley was to see Ritehey (< looks like different spelling here) Co. about renewing contract for coming year. Motion to continue Miss. Wallace in room 1, motion carried paid bills Motion to see Neal Shaffer about coal hauling for next year. Motion to see about having Janitor for next year, have Mr. McCracken see Elmer Vandervort, made and carried. adjourned David T. Gayley Sect.
June 1 1953 A regular meeting of the board was held, members present, Brownlee, Pearsall, McCracken, Bartlett. Mrs. Haskell of the Ritchey Bus Co. was there to discuss bus contract for next year. Motion to give contract a 3 year to Ritchey if they provide a new bus, motion carried Motion to elect Brookville Bank and Trust Treasurer, and David Gayley Sect for a term of four years, motion carried Next a motion to extend teacher's pay from 10 to 12 months was tabled until later. paid bills adjourned David T. July 6 1953 A regular meeting of the board was held, members present, Pearsall, McCracken, Westerman First was a motion to appoint Mr. Blouse tax collector to collect delinquent taxes for 1952. motion carried paid bills A letter was read about school stop signs, also a letter from Mr. Dinger in regards to installing toilets discussed, price $738.70. this was tabled until next meeting. Discussion of getting janitor was next, to action it in Aug meeting. painting of room also discussed. Sect. sent in audit report also bus contracts. Paid Mr. Blouse $240.45 Jan 5 $206.20 Balance due $34.25 on July 6 adjourned David T. Gayley Sect.
Aug 3 1953 A regular meeting of the board was held First business was hiring a janitor for coming term. Mr. Vandavort to let us know if he will take it. Next discussion on installation of toilets, followed by motion to have work done by Brownlee, seconded by McCracken, motion carried Next a motion to have digging done for tanks, McCracken and Brownlee to find someone. paid bills Sect mentioned getting someone to clean rooms, It was decided to contact different people. adjourned David T. Aug 30 1953 A regular meeting of the board was held, members present, Brownlee, Pearsall, McCracken, Westerman Reading of the Supervisor of Special Education for the suspension of ( I intentionally did not include pupils name here) since his records show her not ready for school. motion made for board to take this action made by McCracken. motion unanimously accepted. Next a similar action to be taken on (I intentionally did not include pupils name here) for one month trial. motion carried adjourned David T. Gayley Sect.
Oct 5 1953 A regular meeting of the board was held, members present, Brownlee, Pearsall, McCracken. paid bills It was motioned to have furnace fan changed by Bill McCracken It was decided to get School stop signs for Thompson boy. It was decided not to have another wall built in play room. adjourned David T. Gayley Sect.
Nov 2 1953 A regular meeting of the board was held, members present, Brownlee, Pearsall, McCracken and Westerman Old business discussed finishing toilets and getting janitor. Appointing Brownlee and McCracken to put up School stop building on Hazen Road. paid bills adjourned David T. Gayley Sect.
Dec 1 1954 A regular meeting of the board was held in the home of Wm. Brownlee The election of officers for coming year. by motion current members retained, motion carried.
