While working on this little project, I have learned so much about local people and their mostly unknown talents and achievements. I would like to spotlight a few of these area people here and share some of their work with the visitors. Anyone who would like to share their work here, or advise me of other local talent, please either e-mail me, or simply use the feed back link on the site. I would love to share as many peoples talents with everyone as possible.
It would be great to see everyone in July!
HERE THEY ARE SO FAR, NO PARTICULAR ORDER

Ginny Smith "Author"
Ginny Smith was born in Knoxdale. At the age of 13, she was adopted by her Uncle and Aunt, Omar and Violet Dixon. Omar Dixon was born and raised in Munderf. His parents were Ezekiel and Bessie Dixon. He had two brothers, Gene and Guy.
Ginny resides with her husband in Summerville, Pennsylvania. On their property, they have a huge pond, and Ginny often retreats there to meditate and write as she reflects on the beauty of God’s magnificent handiwork. She is the mother of three grown children and has eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. This in itself inspires Ginny to write.
In
October of 2005, Ginny’s book, Golden Nuggets, was published through
PublishAmerica. This was an exciting time for Ginny as she was busy with book
signings and was able to touch many people’s lives. Sometime later she decided
to put together a book that included devotions as well as poems. She spent many
months putting together poems and devotionals as she studied the scripture.
There were times when the words would flow from her pen with great ease while
other times her pen seemed to have dried up. She has now completed her book and
has titled it Quiet Meditations.
Ginny has also self-published two other books, Precious Gems, and Inspirations from Heaven.

visitors to visit her web site. She has also submitted photos with names
for the rest of us to enjoy. (I do not have them all posted yet, but will be

Paul Campbell "Scholar" also see "Paul's recollections"
(Not sure of date of clipping:)
Shared by Doris Harriff, Paul's 1/2 sister:
My half-brother, Paul Campbell. Thought this might make a good "Local boy makes good" story. He did 2 years of high school at Munderf, then stayed with an aunt to do his junior year in Clarion, then to Brookville for his senior year. He would walk to Dick Schaffner’s, and Dick would take him (and other high school students) to the Egypt church where they would get on the Hazen bus. The Hazen bus went north to Sugar Hill before returning and going through Hazen to Brookville.
I'd say his determination to get an education paid off! He graduated from Brookville in 1944.
.......................................

Paul Campbell's "other" talents, in addition to his career in education. He does woodworking. He made a working spinning wheel for his daughter Judy. He bought a harp for his wife, and it inspired him to make a harp for his granddaughter as a college graduation gift. This picture is his granddaughter, Kathryn Campbell with her harp. The picture was taken April 19, 2008.
That is his (adopted) granddaughter with her harp.
(Here in Paul's own words is the story of this spinning wheel.)
Hi Danny,
I am somewhat embarrassed by my sister Doris Harriff's accolades, so I thought that a description of me building the spinning wheel for my daughter Judy might
be appropriate.
When she asked me, I didn't even know how those things worked. She gave me an article and some dimensions, but they were too general.
I took my camera to an local Antique Mall, thinking that I could get some pictures of a wheel,
but they wouldn't let me in with a camera. I wonder what they were trying to hide. Then I called the local museum, Frontier Village, and asked them if they
had a spinning wheel and would let me take pictures. They said "Sure. Just
call when you Want to come." When I got there they wouldn't even take my money for a ticket, but sent me to the Irish house free. That, by the way, was
appropriate, because my Granddaddy came from
County Tyrone.
I took several pictures and figured out how the thing worked. I had it finished in a couple of months,
but it wouldn't spin.
The ratio between the big wheel and the spool wheels is critical, so I had to make a couple new spool wheels. Then it worked.
I really enjoy reading your site. I especially liked Alice Gayley's Civil War information. I knew her Dad, although I wasn't one of his students.
